Ferrari Hypersail: Towards a New Generation of Flying Monohulls
With the Hypersail project, Guillaume Verdier and his team mark a new milestone in the exploration of extreme offshore architectures.
Imagined in collaboration with Ferrari and driven by a clear ambition—to push the limits of ocean navigation—this 100-foot monohull redefines the established codes of offshore racing. At the crossroads of the America’s Cup, IMOCA and Ultim worlds, Hypersail offers a unique synthesis of performance, stability and energy autonomy.
Designed to achieve stable flight on three points of support, through a combination of lateral foils, a canting keel and a lifting rudder, the project embodies a radical vision: that of a monohull capable of reaching levels of speed and efficiency previously reserved for multihulls.
Beyond pure performance, Hypersail is part of a broader technological approach, integrating autonomous energy systems and solutions inspired by cutting-edge automotive engineering, opening new perspectives for offshore racing and long-distance sailing.
Conceived as a full-scale laboratory, the project reflects a strong belief of the design office: that the most meaningful breakthroughs in naval architecture emerge at the intersection of disciplines, cultures and technologies.
