The AC72 is 72 foot catamaran with wing sails. AC72 boats raced the 34th America’s Cup in 2013 and the Louis Vuitton Cup, which selected the challenger of the America’s Cup.
The design and construction of the boat started in 2011. Guillaume Verdier and his co-workers Benjamin Muyl, Hervé Penfornis and Romaric Neyhousser joined the team as architects.
Each team is free to choose the hulls and sails, within the class’ regulations.
Team Emirates New Zealand commissioned two AC72. The first boat was kept in reserve. It was revealed on 21st July 2012.
